Maryland shows similar struggles in road loss to No. 5 Wisconsin
By Ethan Cadeaux
Inbound Sabbatum'south apex competition against the No. 5 Wisconsin Badgers, Maryland football had the opportunity to practice something they had non washed in 67 years: defeat a acme 5 team on the road.
That streak is at least going to last a trivial while longer. Saturday afternoon proved to exist more than of the same in what is coming close to a lost season for the Terrapins, every bit they never really stood a chance against the Badgers, falling 38-thirteen.
The Badgers leaned heavily on their freshman star running back Jonathan Taylor, who acquired bug for the Maryland defence force all afternoon long. Taylor carried the brawl 22 times for 126 yards and a touchdown in the lopsided defeat.
Maryland's offense, which heavily relies on star receiver D.J. Moore, was unable to get the junior going all day. He finished with three receptions for just 44 yards.
The quarterback play for the Terps was sloppy once again, equally sophomore Max Bortenschlager threw a pick-six on the Terps opening drive. T.J. Edwards took the sophomore'southward pass 54-yards the other way for a Badgers touchdown.
Wisconsin kept the gas pedal on the entire kickoff one-half, as Maryland'due south merely score came on a 23-yard field goal in the second quarter. The Terps savage downwards 28-three early in the third quarter and was unable to amount whatever sort of improvement.
Bortenschlager finished xiii-30 for just 125 yards, with one touchdown in addition to the early on interception.
The closest the Terps cutting the lead was to fifteen. After Bortenschlager establish Taivon Jacobs from ten yards out midway through the tertiary quarter. The Terps added another field goal tardily in the third quarter.
But the Maryland offense was nonexistent in the quaternary quarter, and the Badgers answered the 10-0 Maryland run with a x-0 run of their own.
Things don't get much easier for the Terps, every bit a tough Indiana squad travels to Maryland Stadium adjacent Sat for the Terps' homecoming contest.
